Sounds good on paper. Except there&#8217;s one disturbing technical detail: <strong>this ratio is biologically impossible<\/strong> on a naturally grown hemp flower. It&#8217;s a question of plant genetics, not marketing.   <\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what the science says &#8211; and what European producers don&#8217;t usually tell you.<\/p>\n<h2>\ud83c\udf31 How the hemp plant produces its cannabinoids<\/h2>\n<p>Cannabis<em>(Cannabis sativa L.<\/em>) produces its cannabinoids via a common precursor, <strong>CBGA<\/strong> (cannabigerolic acid). THC\/CBD ratio typically between 1\/20 and 1\/30.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\ud83e\uddee Disruptive mathematics<\/h2>\n<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at what this means in concrete terms.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s imagine a CBD-dominant flower (chemotype III) with a THC\/CBD ratio <strong>of 1\/25<\/strong> &#8211; which is already a very good ratio, rather rare in nature. If the flower contains <strong>20% CBD<\/strong>, then it contains at least <strong>20\/25 = 0.8% THC<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>This is <strong>more than double<\/strong> the European limit (0.3%). And still below the Swiss limit (1%). <\/p>\n<p>To have a flower with 20% CBD <strong>and 0.3% THC<\/strong>, you&#8217;d need a THC\/CBD ratio of <strong>1\/66<\/strong>. No natural cannabis variety in the world achieves this ratio. <strong>It&#8217;s mathematically and genetically impossible<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<h2>\ud83d\udca1 So where do these miracle flowers from the European market come from?<\/h2>\n<p>If you see a flower displayed as 20% CBD \/ 0.3% THC on a European site, here are the realistic explanations:<\/p>\n<h3>1. Adding CBD isolate to a poor flower<\/h3>\n<p>The most common practice is to take a natural flower low in cannabinoids (3-5% CBD, 0.2% THC) and <strong>spray<\/strong> it <strong>with synthetic CBD isolate<\/strong> until the stated level is reached. The flower then has 15-20% official CBD, but 90% of this CBD is <strong>added crystalline powder<\/strong>, not natural CBD. <\/p>\n<h3>2.
